Our Ecosystem
How Legrand's automation platform is configured — what you can do, what's restricted, and why
What is our automation ecosystem?
Legrand uses Microsoft 365 as the foundation for all automation tools. Think of it as a building: the organization (Microsoft 365) is the building itself, environments are the floors, and your automations are the rooms. The settings below control how the entire building operates — they apply to all Legrand users worldwide.
Default Workspace
Available to allEvery Legrand employee with a Microsoft 365 account automatically gets a personal workspace for building simple automations. This is your starting point — no request needed.
💡 This is like having a personal sandbox. For team projects, request a dedicated environment via the 'Act' section.
Environment Creation by Users
RestrictedUsers cannot create their own project environments. All new environments are created through the Automation Hub request process. This ensures proper naming, security, and governance.
💡 Need a new environment? Go to 'Act' > 'Environment Creation' — the process takes 5-10 business days.
Packaged Deployments
RequiredAll automations must be packaged before moving to production. This means your work is versioned, traceable, and can be restored if something goes wrong — like saving versions of a document.
💡 Think of it like 'Save As' for your automations — every version is tracked and can be rolled back.
AI Credits (AI Builder)
MonitoredAI features (document reading, text analysis, predictions) use shared credits across Legrand. Credits are allocated per project based on business need. Monthly usage is tracked by the Automation team.
💡 AI credits are like a shared budget — request allocation when you need AI features in your automation.
Data Protection Rules
3 active policiesConnectors (the bridges between your automation and other systems) are classified by security level: approved for business use, personal use only, or blocked. Each environment has its own protection rules to prevent data leaks.
💡 These rules prevent sensitive business data from accidentally flowing to unauthorized services.
Access Roles
Role-basedAccess is managed by roles: you get specific permissions based on your profile and what you requested. Roles include 'Builder' (can create), 'User' (can use), and 'Administrator' (full control).
Available Connectors
Protected900+ connectors let your automations talk to other systems (SharePoint, Outlook, SAP, etc.). Standard connectors are included with your Microsoft 365 licence. Advanced connectors (SAP, SQL, HTTP) require an additional licence.
💡 Not sure which connectors you need? Use the Decision Matrix to find out.
Central Database (Dataverse)
97% UsedDataverse is the shared database for all automation data across Legrand. Current usage: 97% (280.95 GB / 289.76 GB). A cleanup of old system logs is needed to free up space.
Organization-wide Settings
Managed by CoEGlobal settings that apply to everyone at Legrand: app sharing permissions, usage analytics, weekly summary emails, and how new users are directed to the right environment. These are managed by the Automation team (Center of Excellence).
